Creation of 23 Source-Texts
Avatar Adi Da's immense outpouring of verbal Revelation and Instruction came to a summary point in the years 1997-1999. During that period, Avatar Adi Da systematized all of His key Writings and Talks from the preceding 30 years into a series of twenty-three books that He designated as His "Source-Texts". His "Source-Texts" are thus His Eternal Message to all. They are the magnificent culmination of the Teaching-Effort He began in 1972. They contain His full Divine Self-Confession and His complete Revelation of Truth, and (together with the "Supportive Texts", in which Avatar Adi Da Gives further detailed Instruction relative to the functional, practical, relational, and cultural disciplines of the Way of Adidam) they give His fully detailed description of the entire process of Awakening, culminating in seventh stage Divine Enlightenment.
Through the Revelation contained in His twenty-three "Source-Texts", Avatar Adi Da has brought to completion the search for Spiritual Truth that has occupied humankind for millennia. Looking at our current human situation in particular, He has demonstrated the untenability (and, indeed, the remarkable naivete, not to mention the negative influence) of the scientific materialist point of view, the point of view that (by asserting that the physical reality is the "only" and senior reality) creates an environment of doubt relative to everything beyond the physical domain—everything Divine, everything Spiritual, even everything psychic. And looking "back" at our entire history, He has "made sense" out of the welter of differing viewpoints in the Great Tradition, demonstrating how they do, in fact, constitute a single (although complex) "design". And He has Made the Supreme Divine Offering that goes beyond what has ever been offered before—the Way that Realizes Permanent Indivisible Oneness with Him, the "Bright" Divine Reality Itself.
The completion of the twenty-three "Source-Texts" of Adidam Ruchiradam represents an immense victory for Avatar Adi Da Samraj. He has succeeded in delivering His entire Revelation in definitive form, during His Lifetime. He has described in full and elaborate detail exactly what His Way, the Way of Adidam, requires, in each and all of its stages. No one need ever question what His precise Instruction is on any subject. No one need ever interpret or augment His Instruction. It is all preserved with incredible exactitude and fullness. No other religious tradition has ever had such precision and fullness of Instruction directly and verifiably from its founder.
Avatar Adi Da Appeared in the world in order to Give His full Divine Self-Revelation—and, now, He has put His "Seal" on His Revelation of Words.
On December 15, 1997, a day of celebration was declared. Avatar Adi Da was residing at Naitauba Island (His Fijian Hermitage Sanctuary), where He had been Working day in and day out for the previous five months creating the first complete formulation of His twenty-three "Source-Texts". That day, He finally laid down His pencil—having (literally) made the last stroke, by underlining a single word. Later that evening, seated under the coconut palms by the turquoise lagoon, Avatar Adi Da gathered with devotees to celebrate His great accomplishment. The devotees who had served the process of His writing were seated near Him on the beach. They read some of their favorite passages from His "Source-Texts", their voices trembling with deep feeling. Then, beneath the now-dark sky, Avatar Adi Da spoke with the force of prophecy and exhortation:
AVATAR ADI DA SAMRAJ: My Word is Complete. Therefore, all of the Siddhis of My Divine-"Emergence"-Work will now—and can, and will forever—take place, whether this Body continues to live or not. Sooner or later, the Body passes. I am relaxed in the reality that I have Done My Work that needed to be Done. And the continuation of this Body is now a luxury for you all. It is entirely up to you. Truly! It is truly so. Love Me in this Form, and the Body will persist.
I Am the Way Beyond all of this. Light Itself, Energy Itself, is Unbroken, Unqualified, Indivisible, altogether Prior, altogether One and Only.
Sitting here in this Body like yours, I have indulged in your experience, and learned greatly from it. And My sympathy has been increased absolutely. I have escaped none of it! This One Who Is suffers in this Body, like you—but more sensitively, more aroused by the pain of it than you dare to be.
You must notice that bodily life is not enough. The whirling stars and bodies of planets, the gravitational ghost of ordinary reality, the black hole of this dark time, and all the sucking sound of ending it is not good enough. Not good enough! It is not good enough! Live life with enough heart, and you get a taste of the Absolute that you desire.
But there is nothing in life, in and of itself, that is enough. Whatever you get by means of science, or by means of ordinary mind, it makes no difference. It is just, plain old, not enough. It is a mummery of endings. It is terrible, and a mockery of your own heart. I do not like it, and I never did. And I had to Fit Myself down to the toes in your likeness, embodying many saints, and even all the trivia of humankind, in My own Form here. More foolish than you!
My Word is Sealed, It is Complete. My twenty-three "Source-Texts" are made, and done. Every word and comma and quotation mark was made and approved and made perfect by Me. What was made is Good, and Complete, and Whole, and Fine, and Great.
I have Done what I had to Do.
So it is time for you to become profoundly serious, and take the arms of My twenty-three "Source-Texts", and the life of this Way of Adidam in My Company, and live it rightly, truly, fully, fully devotionally, and bring it as My Gift to all of humankind. And be the seed whereby this transformation can occur. [December 15, 1997]
