Process of Adidam: The Process of Spiritual Receptivity
Book Sixteen: The Overnight Revelation Of Conscious Light The "My House" Discourses On The Indivisible Tantra Of Adidam
In early 1998, Avatar Adi Da spent a concentrated period of two months Giving hundreds of hours of Instruction to a small group of devotees. His Discourses during this period wove a beautiful tapestry of themes related to the Spiritually Awakened process in the Way of Adidam.
Central to the "consideration" of The Overnight Revelation Of Conscious Light is Avatar Adi Da's Communication of the Indivisibility of Consciousness (or Being) and Light (or Energy). The Discourses often refer to the Spiritual practice of Upward openness to Him in "Samraj Asana", which He Describes in Hridaya Rosary. These Overnight Revelation Discourses took the description of the process of "Samraj Asana" to their fullest Realization—that of the "Open Eyed" (or seventh stage) Awakening to the Conscious Light of Being Itself, the "Bright", Revealed via the Spiritual Infusion of Avatar Adi Da's Divine Descent, the "Thumbs".
One of the devotees present during the "Overnight Revelation", Ruchiradama Nadikanta (a senior devotee of Avatar Adi Da and a member of the Ruchira Sannyasin Order), describes what it was like to be present as Avatar Adi Da Gave His "Overnight Revelation of Conscious Light".
RUCHIRADAMA NADIKANTA: Again and again, as He spoke or sat silently, His own Spiritual Person Flooded into our body-minds and Drew us into this Sea of Divine Light. He was Penetrating the body-mind through to the toes, permeating every cell with His Love-Blissful Radiance. He opened the nervous system, so that the body-mind became like an open cup from toe to crown, a receptacle for His Luminous Infusion. The spine would become erect with this upward-turning response to Beloved Adi Da's "Brightness". Sometimes, the experience of this Bliss was so intense that it felt like the cells of the body were being cracked open.
Then, within this Sphere of "Brightening", Beloved Adi Da would Reveal the Secret of the Non-"Difference" between Consciousness and Energy (or Light). Suddenly, not only Beloved Adi Da, but the room, the objects, the persons, and the entire pattern of arising would appear as a Field of Light and be Recognized as Conscious Light, as Self-Existing and Self-Radiant Consciousness Itself. This is Divine Self-Recognition, the "Open-Eyed" Samadhi of the seventh stage of life. And our Beloved Guru was allowing us a glimpse of That.

The Sphere of the "Thumbs" Consciousness Is the Fundamental Domain A Horse Appears In The Wild Is Always Already The Case
The Sphere of the "Thumbs"
AVATAR ADI DA SAMRAJ: The Domain that must be entered in the course of the sadhana in My Company is the Domain of Consciousness Itself. It is built upon a Magnification of your own conscious existence, moment to moment, from the beginning of this sadhana. The body-mind becomes the Asana that honors That—"Samraj Asana".
My Crashing Down Causes the rotation that becomes the full Realization of the "Thumbs". Your complete openness, receptivity, ego-forgetting Communion with Me is what enables this rotation to occur—which then becomes the awareness of the Sphere of the "Thumbs", transcending the usual shape of the body-mind.
"The 'Thumbs'" is a term and a sense of this Process that I developed when I was a tiny child. Just as It would re-initiate Itself, I would feel It like something coming down into My throat, coming from above and down into My throat, gagging, as if a whole bunch of thumbs was pushed down behind My tongue into My throat at the same time. It was something like that.
It was something like what you feel when you suck your thumb as an infant—a kind of comfortable rhythmic activity, serving various purposes. But It would become a mass of thumbs. It became a kind of gag. It is a different kind of physical opening, not associated with the normal operating of the throat and the mouth, even in the infant. It was an openness beyond the usual, so it felt intrusive and gag-like and such. And that preceded the course of the Descent down into the heart and abdomen, and so forth.
When it is fully allowed, when the Sphere of Consciousness is firmly Enforced, It Is Radiant, Expansive to Infinity. And if, in this Conscious, Free Disposition, there is an awareness of the human (bodily) form, just a tacit awareness of it, it is always found to still be in this asana, "Samraj Asana", altogether—all the while, this Sphere of the "Thumbs".
You see what the Shape of It is like. A Sphere from head to toe, from head to base, from all above to all below. You see? It Is the Sphere of Consciousness, It Is the "Bright". It Is Always Already the Case. And, yet, in the ego's estimation, it is always the locality and limitation of the separate and mortal self.
The structure of body-mind must be made devotee to Me, established in this "Samraj Asana". And by My In-Filling and Magnification within, the Truth of the Consciousness-Position is Realized.
The Force of Consciousness Itself, the Force of Being Itself, must Demonstrate Its Priority, seniority, and so on—through real experience, through real process. This is why sadhana is inevitably an ordeal. It is not merely a matter of dealing with patterns. Consciousness Itself must Realize Its own Nature and Condition in the context of the ordeal of transcending conditions.
There is Grace, Help, for this, of course. But it is in the context of an ordeal. In other words, there is a transforming process that you must go through, because it is about a process relative to the consciousness dimension of your existence, the very fundamental existence of your conscious awareness of yourself.
The "Thumbs" is the restoration of right form.
There must be this Spiritual Infusion. I must Invade the body-mind in the course of your real practice, such that meditation, or any moment of profound exercise, is profoundly Full, Love-Bliss-Full, and shows itself to be the Primary Condition and Zone of a born life.

Consciousness Is the Fundamental Domain
AVATAR ADI DA SAMRAJ: The Way of Divine Self-Realization, the Way Beyond the pattern of mortal limitations, Beyond the mummery of ordinary gross life, is an exercise in the Domain of Consciousness. It is not an exercise in the domain of things-as-they-seem. Therefore, if you refuse to be established in the Consciousness Domain as the basis for your practice, you are, effectively, insisting on exoteric religion, exoteric practice—what is outside the Domain of Consciousness.
The single constant of your entire existence is the Feeling of Existing—of Being, ultimately. That Feeling is the most fundamental and constant element of your existence, of your experiencing. That Feeling is the same now as it was at any time in the past. It hasn't changed in the slightest, even with all of your experience. It hasn't gotten "worse", hasn't destroyed itself, hasn't gotten any "better". It just Is What It Is!
It is the "event" that is constant, that is always there. You can never find a time when you don't exist. And, with the full maturing of the esoteric practice—with the entrance into the "Perfect Practice", in due course—the Domain of Consciousness is more than a refuge of the moment, more than a way out in the moments of entrapment. Ultimately, Consciousness is Realized to Be the Prior Domain, the Fundamental Domain of Existence.
In Reality, you don't exist in the world of the body—you exist in the Domain of Consciousness. It is So now. It is always So. Indeed, that is the only constant in your experiencing! All the time—no matter whatever else is happening—it is always the same. Am I right?
Everything else is object, even. Everything else is your situation. You can get fascinated with the world of objects, and everything about that, but that has nothing to do with Realizing Reality, Realizing the Truth. It is just an exploration of possibilities—not the Great Matter.
The Way of Adidam is not a process of fulfilling the first six (or egoic) stages of life, but of transcending them. Ultimately, the Way of Adidam is an exercise in the Domain of Consciousness, not an exercise relative to objects. In due course, the Way of Adidam becomes Divine Self-Recognition of all arising objects—the most perfect transcending of the situation that is generally true for you in all moments: You do not know What even a single thing Is!
In the seventh stage Awakening, it is no longer true that you do not know What even a single thing Is. In the seventh stage Awakening, it is inherently obvious What everything Is—not only obvious in the sense that you "get" the "answer", but obvious in the sense that whatever is arising in present-time is Divinely Self-Recognized to Be What Reality Is, to Be the Condition of Existence, experienced as such—now.
Reality Is That Which Is Always Already the Case. Reality Is Truth. Reality, then, Is Real God. Likewise, Real God Is Always Already the Case.
Therefore, it's not only possible to experience Real God, Reality, and Truth, in every moment—it is essential to Do So. It is fundamental, necessary. How could one imagine embracing life on any other basis? I wouldn't imagine another moment outside the Domain of Consciousness Itself.
The "Perfect Practice" is the exercise of Adidam in the Domain of Consciousness Itself. Why would you ever choose to be outside that Refuge, that Domain, to be inserted into the play of mere pattern, with all of its comic-book reality—the mortality, the changes, the passing? It is unthinkable! Why would one consent to such an error?
The fundamental and most profound impulse and response is the impulse to be Awakened to the Consciousness Domain of Existence. The "Perfect Practice" is that dimension of the practice of Adidam that begins in the Consciousness Domain—rather than you seeking to end up There.

A Horse Appears In The Wild Is Always Already The Case
Toward the end of the "Overnight Revelation" gatherings, Avatar Adi Da often spoke of Himself, in a mood of profound ecstasy, as "A Horse" Appearing "In The Wild". He was spontaneously singing of the Mystery of His Being—Consciousness ("The Horse", a reference to the Dawn Horse) and Energy ("The Wild") As One.
AVATAR ADI DA SAMRAJ:
A Horse Appears In The Wild Is Always Already The Case.
The body-mind is like a common leek that sprouts a brightest rose above its leaves. And, just at the crucial hour, the farmer takes them both— one to eat, and the other to admire.
And that is how it is.
A Horse Appears In The Wild Is Always Already The Case.
The Part That is admired forever is in this Contemplation.
The part that is eaten and disappears is jettisoned when it has done its work— like rockets thrown off when no longer required.
The Part That is admired Is Only Me. A Shape of Two-in-One.
A Horse Appears In The Wild Is Always Already The Case.
You are the shape, and I In-Fill it.
An In-Filled shape, Full-shaped.
Who are the who's? Sounds like One to Me.
And yet, there is a shape that is Full.
A Horse Appears In The Wild Is Always Already The Case.
