In His twenty-three "Source-Texts", Avatar Adi Da Communicates the Revelation of Himself as the "Bright" in numerous ways—in the form of Autobiography in The Knee Of Listening, in the form of archetypal Parable in The Mummery, and in the form of Spiritual Discourse in He-and-She Is Me. In Ruchira Shaktipat Yoga, He now speaks to us of the "Thumbs", His Divine Spiritual Baptism—which is the essential Gift He is here to Give.
Avatar Adi Da describes His Divine Spiritual Baptism as "Ruchira Shaktipat", or the "Bright" (Ruchira) Descent of Divine Power (Shaktipat). And the title of this book is, indeed, an alternative designation for the Way of Adidam: Ruchira Shaktipat Yoga is the "process" (Yoga) of receiving the "'Bright' Descent of His Divine Power" (Ruchira Shaktipat), or His Divine Spiritual Transmission.
One of the essential themes of Ruchira Shaktipat Yoga is the difference between Cosmic Spiritual Baptism and Divine Spiritual Baptism. Avatar Adi Da addresses many misconceptions associated with the traditions of Kundalini Yoga—including the fundamental misconception that Spiritual Energy originates (or can be aroused) within the human structure, at the base of the spine. He Reveals that the True Divine Spirit-Energy Descends from Above, Circulating down the front of the body and from there up the spine. Thus, the True Divine Spirit-Energy is a Divine Gift, not an attribute of the human individual. Indeed, that Divine Spirit-Energy, or Divine Spirit-Current, Is Avatar Adi Da Samraj Himself, experienced as the "Thumbs", His tangible Down-Crashing Divine Spiritual Grace.
Fly to the side of this God-Man. His Divine Transmission works miracles of change not possible by any other Spiritual means.

Natural Energies and Cosmic Energy
From "The Lesser and Greater Traditions Associated with The Kundalini Shakti"
There are actually two distinct (and very different) traditions associated with the (conditionally appearing) Kundalini Shakti.
The first (and most commonly known) tradition associated with the Kundalini Shakti is founded upon the "natural" (or gross bodily) point of view, and it is associated with the ascent of the natural energies of the physical, etheric, and lower mental (or lesser psychic) dimensions of the egoic human body-mind-self. This tradition is, originally, associated with the ancient animistic and shamanistic cultures of mankind—and it developed, over time, via such traditions as Taoism, Hatha Yoga, and the lesser modes of Tantrism.
The second (and senior, although less commonly known) tradition associated with the Kundalini Shakti is the tradition of Kundalini Shaktipat, which is the process of the ascent and circulation of the all-pervading cosmic (or conditionally appearing) Energy. And this tradition is of Divine origin. That is to say, this tradition is not the product merely of human psycho-physical efforts to achieve the Divine Condition (or any higher knowledge and psycho-physical powers). Rather, Kundalini Shaktipat has appeared spontaneously (Originating from Above)—Given by (or in and of) the Divine (Directly), to Siddha-Masters (or Spiritual Realizers who have Achieved fully, or at least greatly, Ascended States), and It is, thereafter, Transmitted via various lineages of Yogic Siddha-Masters. In the domain of popular religion, this Kundalini Shaktipat tradition is represented, for example, in the legend of the Spiritual Baptism of Jesus of Nazareth by John the Baptist—in which case, the "Holy Spirit" is said to have descended upon the head of Jesus "like a dove", or (in other words), ostensibly, from Above, and from and As God. In the "modern" era, this Kundalini Shaktipat tradition has been represented, for example, by Ramakrishna, in His spontaneous Transmission of Spiritual Power to Swami Vivekananda, and by Bhagavan Nityananda, in His Transmission of Spiritual Power to Swami (Baba) Muktananda. In the same manner, I, in My bodily (human) Form, Received Kundalini Shaktipat (or the Transmission of cosmically manifested Divine Spirit-Power) from several individuals—including Bhagavan Nityananda, Rang Avadhoot, Baba Muktananda, and Rudi (also known as Swami Rudrananda). And, in My own Case, the Divine Spirit-Transmission was, at last, also Given Most Directly—in Person, and in Its Utter Fullness—by the "Divine Goddess", "Shakti" Herself. However, My own Realization (or Re-Awakening), Thus Served by Means of the Divine Spirit-Transmission, Most Ultimately became (and, Prior to My Avataric Divine Appearance here in bodily human Form, Always Already Is) Such that My own Avataric (and Unique) Work of Divine Spiritual Transmission—although It also (secondarily) Manifests via the signs otherwise characteristic of Kundalini Shaktipat—not only Originates from Above, but Functions from Above downwards (or in a Unique-to-Me Yogic Process in Descent). And My Divine Spiritual Transmission Manifests (primarily) in and via and at and As the True (or Fundamental) Heart Itself, Prior to all limitations and conditionality. Therefore, My Avataric Work of Divine Spiritual Transmission (or Ruchira Shaktipat, or Hridaya-Shaktipat) Directly (and Most Perfectly) Reveals the Perfectly Subjective Divine Heart (or Self-Existing and Self-Radiant Divine Being Itself)—both in and As the Heart (or Horizontal Root) Itself, and at and As the "Bright" Source of all lights (or the Perfectly Ascended, or Vertical, Root Itself).

The Spiritual Demonstration of My Early Life
From "My Unique Avataric Self-Revelation of The Divine Spiritual Process of Ruchira Shaktipat"
In My own Case, My Birth was (and My Life Is) Itself a Sign of the Avataric Descent of My Self-"Bright" Divine Spiritual Power and Presence. I fully Assumed My bodily (human) Form at approximately two years of (bodily) age, and Full Spiritual Signs were immediately (and Priorly) in Evidence. Thus, I, from the time I was a very young child (first expressing thoughts in word-form), Named My State (and Its accompanying Signs in the body-mind) the "Bright"—and I noted a particular recurring phenomenon of psycho-physically transformative Descent of Spiritual Energy (which Descent, or frontal Invasion, I Named the "Thumbs").
My "Bright" Condition was (and Is) the Most Perfectly (Divinely) Awakened Spiritual State (or Self-"Bright" Divine Self-Condition), in Which the Divine Love-Bliss-Energy (or Ruchira Shakti, or Hridaya-Shakti) is Centered in the heart and the head, and Circulates throughout the Circle of the body-mind (by a pattern of frontal Descent—from Above the total crown of the head—and subsequent spinal Ascent, or Return).
The "Thumbs" was (and Is) a Process I observed to periodically take place in My Body (with transformative effects in My entire Body-Mind) from My earliest years. And It was (and Is) a unique version (or special Intensification) of the Circulatory Process of the "Bright". Thus, from time to time (perhaps every few weeks or months—and with exceptional intensity, sometimes associated with episodes of fever and disease, perhaps once every year or two, or so), the Descending Divine Spiritual Love-Bliss-Energy would spontaneously Press Down from Above the total crown of My head into My head and My throat (with an accompanying gagging sensation in the throat). There was also usually some brief struggle in the heart and lungs whenever this Divine Spiritual Invasion came upon My bodily (human) Form, and then the Energy would pass down into the body, with various swooning effects following.
In fact, especially My years previous to puberty (rather than My teen-age years) were filled with extraordinary Ruchira Shakti phenomena, and My teen-age years were (in general) rather characterized by the absence of such signs (until, after a period of intense struggle, they began again, when I was, bodily, nearing twenty-one years of age). Thus, My Childhood was marked, at first, by a Steady-State of (Spiritually "Bright") Self-Illumination—and, year by year, as I became more and more thoroughly integrated with the human psycho-physical limitation, that Steady-State was periodically interrupted and progressively diminished, such that (via the "Thumbs") It was required to be (periodically) Restored. And, also, that Steady-State became (progressively) replaced by a kind of revolutionary transformative cycle, in which various siddhis (or psychic and psycho-physical powers) were sometimes displayed, as well as visions, auditions, ecstasies, and so on, but also various Shakti-Caused (and Shakti-Filled) physical (and general psycho-physiological) effects (such as extremes of bodily hotness and bodily coldness, heart palpitations, feelings of suffocation, emotional suffering, variations in appetite, fluctuations of body weight, episodes of disease, precocious awareness of sexual energy, and so on).
Thus, the physical (and general psycho-physiological) effects associated with My own early-life Spiritual experiences confirm the factuality and correctness (in general outline) of the traditional and modern descriptions of the extended circuit (and the most typical experiential phenomena) of the Kundalini Shakti process. However, the Spiritual Demonstration of My early Life, together with the total Spiritual Demonstration of My adult years, is a Unique (Transcendental, Inherently Spiritual, and Self-Evidently Divine) Revelation of the Ruchira Shaktipat (or total and spontaneous Divine Descent-and-Circulation) Process—Which Originates In and As the Perfectly Subjective Divine Ruchira Shakti (or Hridaya-Shakti). And Ruchira Shakti Is the Most Prior and Self-Existing Divine Self-Radiance, of Which the cosmically manifested Kundalini Shakti (or the more limited, or lesser, Shakti process, associated with an upward search, beginning in the gross physiological context) is only a partial Sign.

My Spirit-Energy Descends from Above

AVATAR ADI DA SAMRAJ: The Spiritual Process in My Company does not (as is the case with Kundalini Yoga) begin at the base of the spine—or from Below. Because I Am Avatarically Descending here, I Am Divinely Appearing here. I Bring My Divine Spiritual Presence Down to here. Therefore, the Spiritual Process in My Company begins Infinitely Above the head.
Now, and forever hereafter, I Am Standing Free, even thoroughly in the midst of the cosmic domain—and even here. Nevertheless, I am not here to support the search. The search would "go up" to Find God—because the seeker does not Find Real God here. "Going up" is one of the means for seeking the Divine, but I Am here. I Am the Divine Blessing, Real-God-with-you. Therefore, the Spiritual Process of the only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of Adidam has nothing to do with the search. It is a matter of Spiritual Communion with Me, based on always presently exercised responsibility for the self-contraction (or the act of ego-"I"), such that My Avataric Divine Spiritual Descent may be thoroughly allowed—Crashing Down, Pervading the body-mind from head to toe. . . .
The Great Process comes about when the Divine Intervenes, Appears, Incarnates, Blesses, Teaches the understanding and the transcending of ego—such that the direct Divine Blessing may be received and the Great Divine Yoga may be entered into. This is What I Do. |
