Library Sponsorship and Donation Needs

The Epitome of Traditional Esotericism Collections

The creation of "The Epitome of Traditional Esotericism" collections is currently the focus of the library's book sponsorship program. The Laughing Man Library is inviting donors who are moved by the creation of this list to sponsor a "The Epitome of Traditional Esotericism" collection in whole or in part. This includes sponsoring copies of the books that Avatar Adi Da Samraj works with.

The Laughing Man Library is planning to develop at least three complete copies of the "The Epitome of Traditional Esotericism" book collection for archival and research purposes. The current books that Avatar Adi Da is working with have come out of the main archival collection of The Basket Of Tolerance, and the first priority is acquiring duplicate copies of these titles so that a complete, archival copy of The Basket Of Tolerance collection can again be fully preserved and served at the Mountain Of Attention.

Additionally, as we have done in the past with "The Epitome of Traditional Wisdom" collection, we will also be creating stand-alone collections of "The Epitome of Traditional Esotericism" (i.e., not simply the books integrated with The Basket Of Tolerance collection). These stand-alone collections are very important and useful, as the ability to see the complete range of the Great Tradition over the span of, in this case, only 250 books, is, in itself, a profound and instructive tool of tolerance and access to literacy in the full potentials of human growth. As much as we support and want to make use of digital means to communicate about and make accessible these works, it has to be said (by a librarian at least!) that nothing quite compares to having the tangible, even tactile experience of physically interacting with these collections in toto, sequenced in Avatar Adi Da's unique pattern. (For those of you not familiar with the Library's collections, summary descriptions are available on the library website.)

Duplicating Rare Books With Avatar Adi Da's Notations

Throughout the creation of "The Epitome of Traditional Esotericism" collection, the librarians made extensive use of some of the rarest books in the library. As part of this process, many books which have Avatar Adi Da's personal notations were accessed, and it became clear that the time had come to place these into permanent archival storage in the Adidam Archives, and replace them on the shelves with copies of less unique significance.

Avatar Adi Da's notations in these books range from simple lines marking special passages to complete essays covering many pages of the books. The librarians are reviewing each book in the library, and are already moving the notated books into the archives--Nina Davis has kindly helped in the first phase of this process. There are a very small percentage of books with these notations, but this duplication/replacement project is a new one for which we invite your sponsorship.

New Acquisitions

The librarians, working in relationship to Avatar Adi Da, are regularly finding opportunities to expand the unique repository of the Laughing Man Library with new books, CDs, and videos representative of the Great Tradition. 100% of our new acquisitions are supported through your generous donations and book sponsorships. You tax-deductible contributions throughout our more than twenty-five year history are what have allowed us to assemble the most extensive collection of esoteric spiritual literature from the Great Tradition, and to develop the library as a resource that is of great value to the whole world.

Please help us continue this historic effort by sponsoring a new book, CD, or video for the library at this time. Your sponsorship of even one to two books, CDs, or videos per year can make a huge difference in our mission to fully serve and make widely available these incredible collections.

To make a tax-deductible donation to support the acquisition of new books, CDs, and videos for the library collections, please contact us at library@adidam.org (more contact information below).
