The Global Ashram

As Avatar Adi Da Samraj has always said, the Way of Adidam is not a set of beliefs, nor is it a group of techniques, nor is it any form of self-effort. Rather, the Way of Adidam is the devotional and Spiritual relationship to Him. Therefore, the worldwide community of practitioners of Adidam is actually a "Global Ashram", in which every one of His devotees has the opportunity (and the responsibility) to cultivate that devotional and Spiritual relationship—no matter where they may live in the world.

Adidam is a global Ashram. It is global participation in the sacred relationship to Me. It is the context of sacred domain extending from My House, from My Ashram.

With the advent of internet technology, devotees' participation in the Global Ashram includes many ways of directly connecting with Avatar Adi Da Samraj, wherever He may be residing at any given time. These means of connection include realtime video of Avatar Adi Da (in occasions where He formally Grants His Spiritual Blessing), realtime presentations by senior devotees who are members of the Ruchira Sannyasin Order, realtime occasions of devotional chanting (occurring in the Hermitage Ashram where Avatar Adi Da is currently residing), written accounts of His current Spiritual Work, current photographs of Him, and so on.

As the context in which devotees cultivate their devotional and Spiritual relationship to Avatar Adi Da Samraj, the Global Ashram of Adidam is what He calls the "sacred domain". The sacred domain is a "set-apart" realm—the realm of human existence that accounts for the core dimensions of life, including Spiritual practice and all forms of intimacy. Avatar Adi Da has commented that modern life tends to destroy the sacred domain. Therefore, the re-establishment of that domain is essential to the continuation of human civilization and sanity.

The sacred domain is about the expression of ecstasy—in all its forms. Therefore, all the arts—and, indeed, all forms of creativity—are, basically, about the sacred domain. Everything about the religious life (including meditation, worship, prayer, and so on) is in the sacred domain. . . The sacred domain is the place of emotional-sexual intimacy, the place of friendship and human intimacy altogether. The sacred domain is the place where the truly human (and humanizing) culture of ecstasy is truly practiced, in the truest sense.
