Life-Discipline and Equanimity
The Basic Disciplines Relative to Health, Diet, Sexuality, Service, and Cooperative Sacred Cultural Association
Chapter 28 of The Dawn Horse Testament
Throughout The Dawn Horse Testament, Avatar Adi Da Samraj frequently uses one of the alternative Names for the Way of Adidam—"The Way of the Heart".
From The Beginning Of The Student–Beginner Stage Of The Way Of The Heart (and, As A Thereafter Continued Obligation . . . ), The Practice Of [The Way Of The Heart] . . . Is To Be Supported . . . By The (Voluntary, Intelligent, and Progressively Intensified) Practice Of A Comprehensive and Complete Range Of Basic functional, practical, relational, and Cultural Disciplines Relative To General Health, Diet, Sexuality, Service, and Cooperative Sacred Cultural Association (With Other, and Even All Other, Formally Acknowledged Practitioners Of The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart).
In The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart, The Basic Disciplines Relative To General Health Involve (General physical) "Conscious Exercise", or The Maintenance Of bodily Equanimity and physical Well–being Through Systematic Exercises and General bodily Practices That Conduct Natural human (and etheric) life–energy Throughout.
In The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart, The Basic Disciplines Relative To Diet Involve The Constant (or Always present–time) Purification, Rebalancing, and Rejuvenation Of vital bodily Existence Through Right and Optimum personal Diet (and Right Periodic Fasting), Which Is Necessarily A "Sattvic", or Pure, and Purifying, and Conservative (or "Minimum Optimum"), and Generally (Unless Right Medical Reasons Indicate Otherwise) fructo–vegetarian, and Maximally (but Not Necessarily, or Generally, Exclusively) raw food Dietary (and Fasting) Discipline That (As A Consistent, daily Rule) Does Not Burden the body or Bind the mind or attention Through food desire and Negative (or constipating, toxifying, and enervating) food effects (and ingestion effects in general), and That (Along With The Necessary Additional "Consideration" and Really Effective Transcending Of Aberrated, Anxious, or Even Excessively private Habits and Patterns Relative To food–taking and waste elimination) Serves The Yielding (or Freeing) Of functional human life–energy and attention To The Great (and, Necessarily, Devotional) Process (Of self–Surrender, self–Forgetting, Progressive self–Observation, Eventual Most Fundamental self–Understanding, and, Altogether, More and More Effective self–Transcendence, or Real ego–Transcendence) That Is The Necessary Foundation Of The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart.
My Any Devotee who Persists In Habits Of gross physical self–Indulgence (Including Dietary self–Indulgence) Is Inevitably Desensitized To Me—Both Devotionally and Spiritually. Therefore, Such Habits Of gross physical self–Indulgence Undermine (and Work Against) The Effectiveness Of The Sadhana (or Way Of Divine Self–Realization) That I Have Given To My Devotees. This Is The Reason Why Refinement Of the physical body Via A Diet That Is Conservative (or "Minimum Optimum"), and Maximally raw, and (Generally, Unless Right Medical Reasons Indicate Otherwise) fructo–vegetarian, and Via A Conservative (and Truly "Sattvic") Approach To food–taking (and body–Maintenance Altogether), Is Necessary In The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart. . . .
The Universal human (and ego–Bound, and ego–Binding) Tendency To Desensitize the body–mind To Me Through Indulgence In gross (or Non–"Sattvic") psycho–physical Habits Of Any and Every Kind Is The First and Essential Reason Why (In The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart) There Must Be The Right and Consistent Exercise Of "Sattvic" Disciplines Of the gross physical (and Of the entire body–mind). Therefore, In The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart, The "Sattvic" Disciplining Of gross (or Non–"Sattvic") psycho–physical Habits In General, and Of Dietary self–Indulgence In Particular, Is Not A puritanical Matter, or A moralistic Matter—Nor Is It An idealistic Matter. My Devotees Are Not Called By Me To Discipline the body–mind As A Form Of psycho–physical Negativity (or body–Denial), or As A Form Of utopian Search For Perfection In The Context Of conditionally Manifested Existence. Rather, In The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart, The "Sattvic" Disciplining Of the body–mind (Including The General, and Right–Principled, Relinquishment Of gross, or Non–"Sattvic", psycho–physical Habits—and The Consistent Whole bodily, or Total psycho–physical, and Altogether Right–Principled, Embrace Of Truly "Sattvic" psycho–physical Disciplines) Is Simply A Necessary and Homely Part Of The Realistic, and Practical, and Really and Practically Counter–egoic Approach To Me, and To The Real Process Of Devotional, and (In Due Course, As My Avatarically Self–Transmitted Divine Spiritual Grace Will Have It) Spiritual, Relationship To Me—Which Relationship (Formally, and Fully Accountably, Embraced and Practiced), and Not any Mere self–Applied and ego–Serving (or ego–Improving, or Even body–mind–Improving) techniques, Is (Itself) The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart.
In The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart, The Basic (or Foundation) Disciplines Relative To Sexuality Begin With "Consideration" Of (and, Therefore, Real Practicing Heart–Response To) My Teaching–Arguments Relative To the human emotional–sexual character, its "Oedipal", or childish and adolescent, Patterning Via early–life Adaptation, and its Obsessive egoic Orientation Toward self–pleasuring, Stress–Release, and Rituals Of Rejection and Betrayal. In Order For This "Consideration" To Become More and More Effective (or Revealing Relative To the conditional self), It Is, As A General Rule Of Formal Expectation (From The Beginning), To Be Accompanied (or Made Expressive) By The Basic Discipline Either Of celibacy Or (In the relationally sexually active case) Of Confining sexual activity To the any circumstance of emotionally intimate (and Formally Culturally Accountable) relationship (and, Altogether, Of Devotionally Surrendering, and, Thereby, Relinquishing, Excessive, or Wastefully self–Indulgent, sexual behavior). And This Basic General Rule Of Formal Expectation (Which, In The Developing Course Of Student–Beginner Practice Of The Way Of The Heart, Must, By Actual Practice, More and More Become A Very Basically "Considered", and, As Such, Stably Demonstrated, functional, practical, and relational Commitment Of body, emotion, mind, and speech) Is Itself To Be Accompanied (From The Point Of Basic Adaptation To Student–Beginner Practice Of The Way Of The Heart) By The Further Basic Discipline (In the relationally sexually active case) Of Obliging sexual activity itself To (More and More) Become An intimate, and life–energy–Conserving, and Rejuvenative, and (In Due Course) Spiritually Active Form Of "Conscious Exercise" (Such That functional, stylistic, and relational limitations On The Practice Of emotional–sexual Relatedness Are, By This Progressively Developing Discipline, and By The Totality Of The By–Me–Given Foundation–Practice Of The Way Of The Heart, "Considered" and, To The Maximum Possible Degree, Out–Grown).
In The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart, The Basic Disciplines Relative To Service Involve The Transcending Of the social ego, By Means Of The Re–Orientation Of social activity, work, money, and, Indeed, Even all activities, To The ego–Transcending, Cooperative, Inclusive, and other–Serving Disposition, and (Altogether) To An Intention That Is, Characteristically (and Always Positively, Rather Than Insipidly), Harmless (or Inspired To Love), and, Characteristically, Both Pro–Relational and Positively Relational (and, Therefore, Not Fundamentally Separative and Competitive, but Positively Alive, Without Negative, or Loveless, Intentions—and Actively Competitive, or Even Rightly Aggressive, Only By Necessity, In circumstances that Either Strictly Demand Or Rightly Expect Competitiveness, or Even, At times, ego–Transcending Aggressiveness). And, In The Process Of This Re–Orientation, There Must Also Be The Effective Relinquishment Of The ego–Serving, Separative (or Exclusive), ego–Fulfilling, Basically Competitive, and (Otherwise) Negative (or Loveless, and, Characteristically, Not Positively Harmless, Not Love–Inspired, and Not All–and–all–Including) Disposition. And All Of This Is To Be Accomplished Simply By Engaging all activities (functional, practical, relational, and Cultural) As Ruchira Avatara Seva (or ego–Surrendering, ego–Forgetting, More and More ego–Transcending, and Always Directly and Really Felt Devotional, and Truly Me–Contemplating, Service To Me)—As An Extension Of My Devotee's Practice Of Ruchira Avatara Bhakti Yoga Into Every Kind and Form Of his or her Active Participation In human life.
The Basic Disciplines Of Service (and All Other Basic Disciplines, and Even All Disciplines) Are, In The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart, To Be Engaged Not Only In the common world, and In the personal (or intimate) domain, but In (Fully Accountable) Formal (and Truly, Rightly, and Fully Participatory) Cooperative Sacred Cultural Association With Other (and Even All Other) Formally Acknowledged Practitioners Of The Way Of The Heart. Because Of Its Comprehensive and Pervasive Function At The Foundation Of All functional, practical, relational, and Cultural Disciplines In The Way Of The Heart, The Discipline Of Cooperative Sacred Culture Is A Fundamental and Profoundly Important Responsibility In The Way Of The Heart. In The Way Of The Heart, True (human–Scale) Sacred Culture Is The Necessary General Context Of ego–Transcendence In daily life. And Cooperation Is The Inherent Law Of Such True Sacred Culture. Also, human beings Characteristically Animate The egoic (or Separative) Disposition Largely Via self–Preoccupation Through mind. Therefore, I Have Described The Fundamental egoic Dramatization In The ordinary human Sphere As The Avoidance Of Relationship. I Have Also Described This egoic Dramatization (Metaphorically) As "Narcissus At The Pond". "Narcissus At The Pond" Is Not Only A Metaphor For egoity In General, but It Is A Specific (Metaphorical) Reference To The Characteristic human Preoccupation Of "Staring" At the mind. The "Image In The Pond" Is the mind, and The Solitary (or Separate, and Separative) Activity Of "Narcissus Staring At The Pond" Is The ego–Act (or The Avoidance Of Relationship), Which Act Is The Seed–Activity That Leads To The Breakdown Of The Whole (or The Totality), Including The human Collective. As A Result, the world Becomes A Mad Gathering Of egos, Preoccupied With Separateness, With self–Concern, With Separative Impulses, Desires, and Intentions, and With Every Kind Of Search For self–Fulfillment and self–Release. Therefore, In Order To Transcend egoity, You Must Embrace The Whole (and The Disposition Of Totality). And, In Order To Do That, You Must Be Restored To The Comprehensive Circumstance Of True (and Truly Cooperative) Sacred Culture. And, In The Constant Context Of human–Scale Cooperative Sacred Culture, You Must Constantly Fulfill Your Responsibilities Relative To The Collective (and Its Totality Of Responsibilities). And, In Order Thus To Transcend egoity, You Must (Necessarily) Become Transformed In Your mind and In Your psycho–physical Disposition Altogether, Such That You Use mind (and body) Rightly, and (Therefore) Not Separatively. This psycho–physical (and ego–Transcending) Necessity Is The Basis, In The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart, For The Discipline Of Cooperative Sacred Culture, Which Obliges You (and every one, and all, Of My Devotees, As one) To Go Beyond the egoic (or ego–Serving and ego–Reinforcing) mind, and (Thus) Beyond The Entire Effort Of The Avoidance Of Relationship. And This Force Of Obligation (Made By Means Of A Concrete Circumstance Of Expectation, Demand, and Accountability) Is The Reason That Cooperative Sacred Culture Is Such A Fundamental and Profound Discipline In The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart.
The Discipline Of Cooperative Sacred Culture Must Be Engaged In The Context Of My Any Devotee's Formal Affiliation With A Formally Designated Regional Community Of The Avataric Pan–Communion Of Adidam. Such Formal Affiliation Includes The Requirements For Regular and Consistent Accountability Relative To All Aspects Of The Practice Of The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart (Including All The By–Me–Given Forms Of functional, practical, relational, and Cultural Discipline), Always Maximized Participation In The Devotional and Cultural Activities (Including Meditation, Puja, Devotional Chanting, Group "Consideration", Educational Events, and So On) Of The Sacred Domain, Regular and Consistent Participation In The Collective Activities Of Cooperative Service, Always Maximized Participation In The Fulfillment Of The Collective Obligations Relative To The Mission and Culture Of The Avataric Pan–Communion Of Adidam, and Always Maximized Right financial support For The Collective Responsibilities Of The Formal Worldwide Sacred Institutional and Cooperative Cultural Gathering (or Truly Global Ashram) Of All Formally Acknowledged Practitioners Of The Way Of The Heart (As These Responsibilities Are Exercised and Fulfilled By The Da Love–Ananda Samrajya, The Avataric Pan–Communion Of Adidam, and The Ruchirasala Of Adidam). And All Of These Requirements Are Always To Be Fulfilled To The Maximum Degree Possible, Given the personal life–circumstance Of My Any Devotee, and Given his or her geographical location In Relation To The Formally Designated Regional Community With Which he or she Is Affiliated.
The Comprehensive Totality Of These Basic Disciplines Requires A Period Of Initial Study and Adaptation, In Which To (Thoroughly and Stably) Establish Them As A Detailed and Comprehensive Whole, Based On Right Understanding, Right (and Detailed) personal Adaptation, and Real (and Entirely Trustable) Accountability. That Necessary Period Of Initial Study and Adaptation (or Of "Consideration" Via Actual Practice) Is The Student–Beginner Stage (and Especially The Earliest Period Of The Student–Beginner Stage) Of The Way Of The Heart. And All Student–Beginners In The Way Of The Heart Are To Be Formally Expected, From The Beginning, To Accept and Embrace All These Basic Disciplines (By Formally Studying and Seriously and Accountably Applying All Of Them), and, Therefore, To Adapt To All Of Them As Appropriate, Useful, and Truly Necessary Elements Of The Real Practice Of The Way Of The Heart.
These By–Me–Given Foundation Disciplines Of The Way Of The Heart Are Not ascetical. They Are Not At All A Matter Of Dissociating From the body–mind or Of Disconnecting the body–mind From its environment Of Participation. Rather, These By–Me–Given Foundation Disciplines Are Entirely Life–Positive—and Entirely A Matter Of Establishing The Right (and Necessary) Equanimity Of the body–mind (or The Total psycho–physical Complex Of the individual being) Through Disciplines Of Basic Right Life (Understood Not In moralistic, or puritanical, or merely behavioral Terms, but Understood In Spiritual and Divine Terms). These By–Me–Given Foundation Disciplines Are, Most Fundamentally, A Matter Of Participating In Devotional and (In Due Course) Spiritual Communion With Me, By Bringing the body–mind (More and More) Into The Condition (and Disposition) Of Utter Non–Separation. If My Any Devotee Fails To Establish and Maintain These By–Me–Given Foundation Disciplines, he or she (Thereby) Creates A psycho–physical life–Disturbance That Is, In Fact, Dissociative In Its Effect. And those who live In Such An Undisciplined (and, Therefore, Inevitably self–Contracted) Manner Are Always going back and forth in their minds, Between Extremes Of self–Indulgence and self–Denial. Such Undisciplined individuals Lack The Virtue Of Participatory Equanimity Which Comes About Through The Practice Of Responsive Surrender Of self–Contraction, In Devotional and (In Due Course) Spiritual Communion With Me.
It Is Profoundly Important That My Devotees Understand That Practice Of The By–Me–Given Foundation Disciplines Of The Way Of The Heart Is Not A Matter Of being "good little boys and girls". Right Practice Of The By–Me–Given Foundation Disciplines Of The Way Of The Heart Is Simply the living Of Right Life, Through The Establishment Of Participatory Equanimity, For The Sake Of Devotional and (In Due Course) Spiritual Communion With Me (and, Ultimately, Most Perfect Realization Of Me)—Not In The Mode Of A Seeker, but In The Mode Of A Non–Contracted Participant. And, Having Established The By–Me–Given functional, practical, relational, and Cultural Disciplines (Based On Devotional Recognition–Response To Me, and On A Right Understanding Of The Necessity and Purpose Of The By–Me–Given Forms Of Discipline), My Devotee Must Persist In The Practice Of All Of These Disciplines, Always In The Context Of More and More Profoundly Engaged Participatory Practice Of Devotional and (In Due Course) Spiritual Communion With Me. If Such Is The Case, Then There Is (More and More) The Developing Evidence Of Profundity Of life and (Ultimately) Of Realization—Whereas, If My Devotee Fails To Maintain The Disciplined Practice Of The Way Of The Heart and Resorts (Once Again) To the ego–position of self–Contraction (Thereby Generating, Once Again, the dualities, the disturbances, and The Loss Of Equanimity Characteristic Of egoity), Then he or she Returns To The Search—Undermining The Fundamental Discipline Of Right Life and Right Practice, and Throwing Away What Has Been Given By Me. Therefore, My Devotee Must Establish Right functional, practical, relational, and Cultural Discipline, Based On My Instructions, and Maintain That Discipline In Perpetuity—As A Fundamental Obligation, Such That Participatory Equanimity Is Established, Maintained, and Perpetuated As A Base For Right Practice Of The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart (or Way Of Adidam), and Such That Consistent Application To The By–Me–Given Forms Of Discipline Is Simply Not A Matter Of "debate" (whether "inner" or "outer"). . . .
In The One (and Only) By–Me–Revealed and By–Me–Given Way Of The Heart (or Way Of Adidam), All The Basic functional, practical, relational, and Cultural Disciplines I Have Indicated Herein Are (By Consistent, and Ever–Growing, Application) To Intensify The Novice Student–Beginner and (Then) Fully Established Student–Beginner Process Of self–Observation—and This By Frustrating The Patterns and Accumulated Addictions Of egoic Seeking. Indeed, the ego–"I" is (Inherently and Entirely) An "Addict"—A Compulsive and Obsessive and Intensely Persistent Seeker, In Perpetual (and Never To Be Satisfied) Pursuit Of Utter self–Fulfillment and (Yet self–Centered) self–Release. Therefore, This Same (self–Disciplined) Process That Must Be Embraced Even From The (Student–Beginner) Beginning Of The Way Of The Heart Must Continue To Intensify (and To Develop In Greater and Greater Detail) . . . , Until The Foundation Process Of self–Observation (Thus Disciplined, Intensified, and Developed) Becomes The Real, True, and Unique Capability Of Direct (or Fully Responsible) Release Of the self–Contraction itself (and The Search Itself), Through The Profound Demonstration Of self–Understanding and ego–Transcendence That Expresses True Hearing Of Me (and, Eventually, True, and, Most Ultimately, Even Inherently Most Perfect, Seeing Of Me).
In The Way Of The Heart, self–Discipline Is (or Must Be) A Right, Voluntary, Intelligent, and Intentional Practice. Also, In The Way Of The Heart, self–Discipline Is A Secondary (or Supportive) Responsive Practice. That Is To Say, In The Way Of The Heart, The Various Forms Of By–Me–Given self–Discipline Are Not Proposed By Me As "ideal behaviors" That Must (Ultimately) Be functionally, practically, and relationally (or, Altogether, Morally) Perfected. Rather, In The Way Of The Heart, All The Various Forms Of By–Me–Given self–Discipline Are Given By Me, and To Be Embraced By My Devotee, For The Sake Of self–Observation, self–Understanding, self–Transcendence (or Real ego–Transcendence), and ego–Transcending Real–God–Realization. And, Most Ultimately, ego–Transcendence Is Realized (To The Most Perfect Degree) Only As and By Means Of The By–My–Avataric–Divine–Spiritual–Grace–Given Inherent Perfection Of Inherent Self–Identification With My (Avatarically Self–Revealed) Transcendental, Inherently Spiritual, Inherently egoless, and Self–Evidently Divine Self–Condition, and Not By Means Of any functional, or practical, or relational, or (Altogether) Moral acts or behaviors. Therefore, In The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart (or Way Of Adidam), The Perfection Of functional, practical, and relational (or, Altogether, Moral) behavior (or self–Discipline) Is Neither Expected Nor Possible—but What Is Both Expected and Possible Is That My Every Devotee Practice Each and All Of The By–Me–Given functional, practical, and relational Disciplines Truly, Seriously, Consistently, and With Full and Consistent Cultural Accountability.
A Basic Design For self–Discipline Is Offered To All Practitioners Formally Embracing The Way Of The Heart. On This Basis, each individual Must Discover A Detailed personal Design That Is Both Appropriate and Optimum In his or her own case. In This Always Ongoing Process, All My Devotees Must Make The Measure Of every day, Such That they (Each and All) Consistently Fulfill All The By–Me–Given Forms Of functional, practical, relational, and Cultural Discipline.
To Serve Every Formally Acknowledged Practitioner Of The Way Of The Heart In his or her Consistent Embrace Of, and Application To, The Full Range Of functional, practical, relational, and Cultural Disciplines, I Have Given A Basic "Form", To Be Adapted To On A daily, weekly, monthly, and annual Basis—and This Embrace Of (and Application To) The Effective Discipline Of "Form" Is To Be Consistently Monitored (and, Thereby, Kept Regularly Accountable), In Detail, By The Cooperative Sacred Culture (Of Expectation and Inspiration) Made Up Of Other (and, Truly, Even All Other) Formally Acknowledged Practitioners Of The Way Of The Heart.
From The Beginning Of The Way Of The Heart (and In Any Manner or Developmental Stage Of Practice In The Way Of The Heart), The Practice Of self–Discipline Must, Of Course, Be Based On An Intelligent (and ego–Renouncing) Evaluation Of The Tendencies (and An Intelligent, and ego–Renouncing, Accommodation Of The Necessities) Of the conditionally–Patterned body–mind—but (Until True Hearing Of Me Awakens) The Principal Function Of That self–Discipline Is To Reflect The conditionally–Patterned ego–Tendencies Of the body–mind To The Intelligent self–Observer, So That the conditionally–Patterned ego–"I" May Be Directly, Clearly, Fully, and Effectively Observed, and (In Due Course) Fundamentally (or, Even Unconditionally, or At Heart) Understood. As Practice Of The Way Of The Heart Matures To The Degree Of True Hearing Of Me (and Beyond), self–Discipline Must Continue, and It Must Continue To Develop From The Original Basic Disciplines Comprehensively Assumed In The Student–Beginner Stage Of The Way Of The Heart—but (Once True Hearing Of Me Awakens) self–Discipline Itself Must Become (and It Must More and More Simply Become) An Expression Of The ego–Transcending Equanimity (and The ego–Transcending functional, practical, and relational Economy) Of one who Has Already Heard Me. And, Eventually, In The Fully Technically Responsible Spiritually Active Context Of The Way Of The Heart, self–Discipline Must Also Become, and It Must More and More Simply Become, An Expression Of The ego–Transcending Spiritual Fullness and, Most Ultimately, The ego–Transcending Transcendental and Divine Awakeness Of one who Has Already Seen Me.
In The [Beginning Stages] Of The Way Of The Heart, The Basic functional, practical, relational, and Cultural Disciplines—Relative To General Health, Right Diet, Right emotional–sexual Practice (Whether relationally sexually active Or celibate), True Service, and Formal Cooperative Sacred Cultural Association—Are (In General Principle) The First (or Truly humanizing) Forms Of "Conductivity" Practice—Because They Command (or Conduct) the wandering functional life–energy and attention of the ordinary human (or frontal) personality, and (Thereby, Artfully) Create A self–Reflecting Medium (Which Functions As A Natural bio–Feedback Mechanism). Therefore, From The Beginning Of The Way Of The Heart (and In The Context Of Any and Every Manner and Developmental Stage Of Practice Of The Way Of The Heart), self–Discipline (Intentionally Applied) Involves A Necessary (and Inherent) Encounter With The Control–Force ("Father–Force", or "Husbanding" Force) Of Life. However, The First Three Stages Of Life (Which Are The life–Foundation Upon Which The Entire Practice Of self–Discipline Must Be Built) Involve An ego–Transcending Process Of Adaptation and Growth Relative To The Control–Force Of Life. And The First Three Stages Of Life (Themselves) Tend To Become An egoic (and, Necessarily, Un–Happy) Struggle Against Being Controlled—and That self–Contracted and self–Protective Struggle Is Inevitably Accompanied By A Reactive Effort (or Search), Either To Control others Or To Resist others Or To Be Detached From others. Therefore, In The Only–By–Me Revealed and Given Way Of The Heart, The Comprehensive and Truly Intelligent (or Fully "Considered") Practice Of self–Discipline . . . Is Not (and Cannot Be) Truly and Consistently Demonstrated Until The Struggle Relative To Control Itself Is Basically (and Very Effectively) Released. That Release From The ego–Struggle Relative To self–Discipline Is Established Via The Foundation–Process Of Student–Beginner Study, Adaptation, Cultural Accountability, and self–Observation—and . . . That Struggle Must Be More and More (and Effectively) Replaced By The Free Motive Of self–Control, By Which The Motive To Control and Balance the body–mind Is Made Your Own, or Allowed To Function As A Basic and Positive personal Directive Toward self–Discipline. |
