Disciplines of Attention and Energy
Ruchira Avatar Adi Da has given two forms of technical practice to address the two basic dimensions of existence—attention (or conscious awareness) and energy. These practices are, respectively, the "conscious process" and "conductivity". The "conscious process" magnifies the turning of the faculty of attention to Avatar Adi Da (attention being the root of mind). And "conductivity" practice magnifies the turning of the faculties of body, emotion, and breath to Him.
The practices of the "conscious process" and "conductivity" are complementary and mutually supportive—and equally important. They are engaged not only during periods of formal meditation, but also during daily activities. They are only to be engaged responsively—that is, on the basis of mind, emotion, body, and breath being already turned to Avatar Adi Da. Thus, they are ways of supporting and magnifying devotion to Him, not techniques for "getting" devotion to "happen". This crucial distinction is what makes the practice of the "conscious process" and "conductivity" a matter of the relationship to Avatar Adi Da—rather than a matter of techniques, engaged independent of the relationship to Him. |
